Some comments on Caltech VPN and China's Great Fire Wall

1. Caltech IMSS recommends using the option 1, which is the Caltech-traffic-only option. It works, but not as well as another option when using a desktop in China. What I found was that using option 2 (all traffic) will have a 10 times-higher speed when downloading something from caltech box sync.

2. Talking about box sync, it is found that not only dropbox but also box sync has been blocked/restricted in China. Using the Caltech Box Sync will speed up the data transfer

Moto g can't take screenshot

I hold Power and press Volume Down and the volume goes down. I keep trying and it goes mute. Nothing I do fixes this. Isn't there some kind of cache I can clear, like Dalvik cache?

"it sounds like from your description that you are holding down the power key and then depressing the volume down key. To take a screenshot, you have to press and hold the power and volume down key at EXACTLY the same time. If you don't, what you  are experiencing will occur. As far as this being a phone wide software issue, I find it unlikely since mine works fine everytime unless I miss depressing at the same time."

[Solved]iPhone locked in recovery mode. Solved even when Home button and powerbutton doesn't work

The current online solutions are either asking you to use tiny umbrella or DFU mode reboot, neither of which works on my iphone. But this is how I solved the problem:

1. Install iExplorer
(http://www.recovery-ipad.com/iphone-stuck-in-recovery-mode.html)(but the solution there doesn't work)

2. connect iphone to your computer and Click the restart button and the iphone restart button
3. (This is the most important part) once the iphone restart, IMMEDIATELY REMOVE THE USB cable!

Then your iphone will go back to life

[solved]How to export/sync iphone notes to MacBook

How to artificially increase .mp3 .wav file size without increasing useful information

To pass the criteria for song track submissions, usually you have to pass the threshold for a minimal rate.

For an image, you can always increase the size and decrease the resolution
For the audio files, use http://www.online-convert.com/.   Upload , select a higher value for the two parameters, and convert.

How to restore iTunes backups

You can restore iTunes backups to your iPhone at any time. Follow these steps to choose a backup and sync the data to your iPhone.
1. Connect the iPhone to the computer with a USB cable.
2. Open iTunes.
3. If you have a new or erased iPhone, iTunes will prompt you to restore from backup.
4. Otherwise, Control-click on your iPhone logo .
(If backing up automatically starts, you can abolish it by clicking on the X)(you don't want to back up an empty phone, of course)
5. Select Restore From Backup...
6. Choose the backup you wish to sync and click the Restore button.

How to use the air pump to blow air into your tire

I do it at our station at San Pasqual Mobile
1. If you don't want to buy the air, simply buy gas there and tell the station guy to give you free air in return, other wise, insert three quarters and the pump will start

2. there are two states of the nozzle. When you insert it into your tire without pressing the handle, you will be measuring the inside pressure (each tick is 0.2 units, five ticks make a 1 unit); When you insert and press the handle, you are blowing in air without measuring the pressure.
3. First measure the pressure, and then briefly press the handle to blow in air and release the handle to quickly check the pressure. By adjusting the intervals of each state (measure/blow) you will try to push the pressure close to the desired level
4. Be sure to do everything quickly since the time is limited. And be sure to put back the caps of all your four tires.
5. After several minutes, your warning will disappear .

My tire's upper limit is 40 psi and I tried pushing the pressure up to the upper limit and drived carefully. It works.

how to replace iphone5 battery

This video is partially correct, until the step to actually take out the battery.
http://youtu.be/sQqPm3LmwV4
Please read the following comment which is extremely useful.

Thanks for the video. Just a note on my Iphone 5. The battery was nowhere near as lose as in the video. Mine had a VERY sticky glue in the back and had to use a flat screw driver as a lever. If this is your case, be patient and go very slowly. Also, very important, try not to lever against the side with all the electronics, but against the one facing the volume buttons. This way you won´t harm your device.
